Sarah Aradi, a successful entrepreneur, and owner of 9 restaurants in the UAE. We always listen to great and challenging stories. Stories, which give us confidence, motivation, and inspiration.
Most the people struggle and work hard in their life to achieve something but some of them work hard to an extent that they set an amazing example for others. Here is a great admiring story of an Ethiopian woman who went to United Arab Emirates (U.A.E) alone with a total amount of $500 (SR 1,875) in her bag.
She owns 9 restaurants in UAE: Besides this, most importantly, all she carried with her was zest, enthusiasm, and devotion for a successful life. Today, this wonderful Ethiopian woman Sarah Aradi is a successful businesswoman who owns a chain of nine restaurants in UAE.
The name of the chain of her nine restaurants which she is running is Al Habasha restaurants. Sarah Aradi’s struggle started at the age of 21 in the year 1993. She came to Dubai in 1993 where it all began. Sarah always loved to cook her real Ethiopian cuisine recipes.
Al Habasha restaurant in 1999: Her friends always loved her Ethiopian cuisine and appreciated her cooking which turned out to be a turning point in Sarah’s life. Due to a great response and likeness of people for Ethiopian food, Sarah took the most vital step of her life by opening her first Al Habasha restaurant in 1999.
Sarah opened the restaurant in Naif area, near Deira. The restaurant was small initially but with the passage of time, even this small place earned appreciation and remarkable words from the people.

She started a side business as well: Besides this, Sarah needed capital for her business so she started exporting Video Home System (VHS tapes) to Ethiopia. There was a huge demand observed for Bollywood movies so she started exporting VHS tapes as a side business of Indian movies.
Sarah quoted that she set up a video shop in Ethiopia in which there was a huge collection of Indian movies by Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, and Shah Rukh Khan. These Bollywood star movies were considered hot seller movies at that time.
A second restaurant: After the VHS trend diminished, Sarah imported CDs, cell phones, branded sunglasses etc. She also sketched the picture of old Dubai to tell that old Dubai was much different from now.
Old Dubai possessed fewer people with nice and strong sense of community.  Her second restaurant was inaugurated by her in Dubai in Frij Murar. Her restaurants were getting famous which boosted her business rapidly.
She reached a monthly income of AED 100,000: Her monthly income was more than Dh100,000, which was considered a pretty good amount at that time. She bought a car from the profit of her first restaurant and the car was from a Mercedes ML series.
Gradually, the Ethiopian community started spreading which also played a major role in making the decision to increase her restaurants. Now, Sara holds nine restaurants across the different states of UAE which includes places in Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Sharjah, and Ras al-Khaimah.
Peoples from different communities visit her restaurants and enjoy tasty Ethiopian cuisine.   When Sarah looks back into her struggling journey which covers almost three decades of her life, she feels proud by calling herself a successful entrepreneur woman in the UAE.
Sarah Aradi always believed in herself and never gave up. Sarah’s perception is positive for life. She believes that if someone is trying to work hard legally, no one can dare to stop her in Dubai at any cost.
