When Is Khatm Ul Quran In Makkah And Madina

2019-Jun-01

People living in Saudi Arabia or those who have come here on an Umrah visa often found asking this question from others, when is Khatm ul Quran in Masjid al-Haram, Makkah or in Masjid al Nabawi in Madina?
 What is Khatam ul Quran?
If you are not sure what does Khatm ul Quran mean, let me explain it for you. During the month of Ramadan, the Holy Quran is recited during Taraweeh prayer in almost every mosque in the world. Most of the mosque complete the entire Quran during Taraweeh prayer and the day when it is completed is called the day of Khatm ul Quran.
Since Makkah and Madina are the two most holy mosques in the world, everyone is eager to know the date of Khatm ul Quran in Masjid al-Haram and Masjid al Nabawi. I know many people who travel from different cities of Saudi Arabia to come to Makkah or Madina just to attend Khatm ul Quran.
When is Khatm ul Quran in Masjid al-Haram, Makkah?
There is a lot of confusion in the minds of residents of Saudi Arabia about the date of Khatm ul Quran in Masjid al-Haram due to which I am writing this article. The Khatm ul Quran in Masjid al-Haram, Makkah is always on the 29th night of Ramadan which means after the 28th fast.
In the last 10 nights of Ramadan, the Holy Quran is recited in Taraweeh prayer as well as the Qayam ul Lail. It is important to mention here that Khatm ul Quran is always in the Taraweeh prayer and not Qayam ul Lail.

The Khatm ul Quran in Masjid al-Haram is always during the Taraweeh prayer i.e. just after Isha. This year, Imam Sudais will lead the Khatm ul Quran dua in Makkah Insha Allah. Recommended: How many rakat in Taraweeh prayer 8 or 20?
When is Khatm ul Quran in Masjid al Nabawi, Madina?
I know many people saying that Khatm ul Quran in Masjid al Nabawi in Madina is on the 27th night of Ramadan which is quite wrong. Just like Masjid al-Haram, the Khatm ul Quran in Masjid al Nabawi, Madina is always on the 29th night of Ramadan during Taraweeh prayer.
Here as well, the Khatm ul Quran in Masjid al Nabawi Madina is always during Taraweeh prayer.
 Khatm ul Quran Dua
The dua of Khatm ul Quran in Makkah, as well as Madina, is always a special one. In Masjid al-Haram, Imam Sudais will lead the Khatm ul Quran dua Insha Allah. It is also said that whatever you ask for in dua is accepted by Allah.
This is the reason, the Khatm ul Quran dua in Makkah and Madina is always a long dua. If you have been living in Saudi Arabia, I think you should make every effort to attend Khatm ul Quran in either Masjid al-Haram or Masjid al Nabawi. If you are living anywhere else in the world, you can always watch taraweeh prayer including Khatm ul Quran prayer live on this link.
